Sea Turtle Colorful Abstract Print Art, this one “the Hawksbill” is definitely one of the critically endangered Sea Turtles. They are a fundamental link in Marine ecosystems. The Green Sea Turtle is also critically endangered.
I have had the honor many many times to see these beautiful sea creatures up close and personal in their natural environment in the Cayman Islands. As a scuba diver there is nothing more awe inspiring than to be right next to one eating away vigorously at the sea sponges on the coral reefs. They are timid but not afraid as you approach to watch, video or take a picture of these magnificent creatures. They, I swear, enjoy you being around watching as they begin to eagerly and vivaciously start eating away.
Majestic-al, Awe-inspiring as they go about swimming gracefully through the crystal blue clear water by looking for their next meal. They eat sea sponges, crustaceans, sea urchins, small fish and jellyfish. The Hawksbill turtle sadly is critically endangered.
They are named for their narrow, pointed beak, a distinctive pattern of overlapping scales on their shells that form a serrated-look on their edges. These Sea creatures are a necessary and critical fundamental link in the marine ecosystems and help to maintain the health of coral reefs and sea grass beds. Illegal poaching/capturing and selling of turtle meat continues and their numbers reflect this. Sadly many just do not understand or care to understand. They use their right as locals to capture and kill to sell for the few monies it can bring. Not caring about their wordly value, or even just the gift of their beautiful presence in the Ocean.
