Puffin

Did you know that the Puffin has a nickname “Parrots of the Sea” because of their colorful triangular shaped beaks. A Puffin weighs about the same as a can of coke.  Puffins lay just one egg per year | and usually with the same mate.  Both parents take turns incubating the egg and caring for the chick.  Puffins are very chatty at their breeding colonies but once out at sea they remain perfectly silent. Puffins can fly as fast as 55 mph and maintain a cruising altitude of 30 feet.  65 % of Puffins are bred in Iceland.  They are ONE of only a FEW birds that can hold upwards of 10 to 12 fish during one foraging trip in their beaks.
